A horror story with unexpected emotional resonance, Son uses its familial focus to counter a certain queasy familiarity.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review James W Dark psychological horror with great acting that kept me immersed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/19/23 Full Review Peter W Overall, it is a bloody, gross, supernatural story about a single mother who will do anything for her son, including digging up her past life as a member of a dark cult. Performances are fine, but the leads have moments of unconvincing dialogue and good tension. Son has a nice set-up as a horror movie but is generally vague in its plot details. The big reveal is highly predictable, and I also found it to be a massive letdown and disappointment. This film will undoubtedly have its followers, but sadly this didn't work for me as well as I would have preferred. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/29/23 Full Review Craig B A very tight supernatural thriller / horror, primarily centred around the love of a young mother for her afflicted son. Solid pacing, well-acted with some disturbing scenes makes for an engrossing movie for horror buffs. Worth checking out. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/10/23 Full Review Hugo S A young boy falls ill to a mysterious illness, developing an immense appetite for blood. His mother is willing to break all ethical barriers to keep her son alive. A mixed bag of different horror genres: cult, body disease and mental illness. The combined effect works well. Great acting from the young star, who fully convinces the viewer of his agonising suffering. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/23 Full Review stoner j Decent little cultish, vampirish horror movie with a cool ending. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News It's engrossing and well-made, but you'll need a strong stomach to get through it.
