It is one of the best Bengali movies of all time, great story, excellent performance by Soumitra Chatterjee and the whole cast. Direction by Satyajit Ray is unquestionable. A very good movie indeed.

Sonar Kella" is the first film made by Satyajit Ray based on the adventures of his private detective Feluda.(Soumitra Chatterjee\Prodosh Mitter).Mukul, a young boy, is haunted by his past experiences(his previous life).When his father takes him to a renowed psychoanalyst, he studies the boy's drawings and believes the sketches depict the Indian Province of Rajasthan. He also suggests taking the boy there. Meanwhile 2 robbers get to know about this boy and believe that he could lead them to a treasure that they have been hunting for a long time. They kidnap Mukul and now, Feluda (Soumitra Chatterjee) must bring back the boy and solve the mystery.I suggest all must see this film of Satyajit Ray!!!

I have seen real wars between the kings?ogo suncho?I think our child Mukul has gone mad. Please consult a psychiatrist. Yes, Dr. Hemangamohan Hazra is a great doctor. He researched on Mukul, and revealed that this boy is talking about his previous birth, where he has seen forts, kings, camels and peacocks.
Media persons are always there to create sensations. They published this issue of Mukul in the Bengali Daily Newspaper, but added an extra flavor to the story by stating that, Mukul knows the hide-outs of precious stones in that fort. Hmm?some notorious persons have read that news. Who are those persons? It is Mandar Bose and Burman. There are two boys in the same locality, whose name is Mukul. Now, the real Mukul is with Dr. Hazra, near the Red Fort. Dr. Hazra asked, ?dekho toh Mukul, etai ki sei kella?? Mukul said, ?No Doctor, I was talking about Sonar Kella?.
Have you heard the name of our famous Pradyosh Chandra Mitter (P C Mitter), whom we call as Feluda. Now, the father of Mukul Bose, Mr. Sudheer Bose, came to meet Feluda. Bose and Burman kidnapped the other Mukul, and later again released him, but you can hardly forget the sweet acting of that boy, who was kidnapped. The way, he explained his kidnapping story, it is just mind-blowing. How many of you have heard that background music, in the Feluda films? Just amazing tune, isn?t it. Now, are we heading for Rajasthan, the land of great kings, with our hero Feluda and his assistant Mr. Topshe? Ha ha ha ?in the train, we have met one man, Mr.Lal Mohan Babu alias the Jatayu, the famous writer. Uff, Santosh Dutta, hats off to you. You just rock. Satyajit Ray created the character of Lal Mohan Babu, be keeping you in mind only. Can you tell us the name of that animal, which is associated with the measurement ?26 inches?, from top to bottom? Ha ha ha ?
Off ho, Mukul. Dr. Hazra and that two notorious people are in the same train only. Mukul, magic dekhbe magic?but, the real magic was something different, my dear Mukul. The magic was very powerful to vanish the real Dr. Hazra to be replaced by Mandar Bose. See, this detective Feluda is a dangerous guy, just kill him, by keeping a scorpion in his bedroom. Uuuh, luckily saved by chance, from the bite of that scorpion. Now, Burman came there to give all those lectures about his achievement that he was in Africa once. Feluda said, this man is a bluff master, his shoes were bought from Esplanade only. Tapshe, please keep an eye on him.
What is meant by Sonar Kella? Feluda is also confused. On the other hand, while on their journey towards Aravalli Hills, Jatayu showed the bhojali to all, and said that he has kept this weapon for safety, because there are dacoits in the Aravalli Hills. Have you ever seen Hyena in China? He he he ?but please see those Phanimansa trees! On every Saturday, you can see flowers in those trees. Baash, Mr. Jatayu, you bhojali is gone. You are in Rajasthan, and you will not like the tea made of Camel?s milk, that is just impossible. Arrey Feluda, look, these are lime stones. Tapshe, you are great?now I understand, what is meant by Sonar Kella or the Golden Fort. It is the fort made of limestone. Last night only, the fake Dr. Hazra has hypnotized Mukul to know the name of the place, which is Jaisalmer.
When Feluda and his team, came back in the hotel, Burman told him that, Dr. Hazra and Mukul has gone to Barmer. Barmer? How can it be? Feluda re-thinks again?no, my dear, Felu mittir cannot lose this game?it has to be Jaisalmer?Driver saab, chalao gaari towards Jaisalmer?But what can Singh ji do here? For two times, the tyres of the car got punctured, because someone has thrown broken glasses in the roads. Arrey, Feluda is dancing now, he is saying that it is telepathy?because we are going in the right direction, which is why we are getting these disturbances. Ooohh?what a scene it was, with superb background music, the train is coming, and Feluda and his team were on the Camel?s back. In the night, there was a fight with that notorious Burman, and after seeing the real Dr. Hazra in the compartment, Burman fell down from the train. Feluda said, ?Ekta aapod galo money hocchey?.
He he he , now see the fun, Mukul?s father was only a gem-cutter, in his previous birth, that is why, Mukul saw all those precious stones. But, Mandar Bose is such a fool?searching here and there in the Jaisalmer Fort, which is made of lime stone. It is the Sonar Kella. Don?t kill that peacock, they are my friends, shouted our Mukul. Don?t worry, my little friend, Feluda, Jatayu and Tapshe are here to take care of this fake Dr. Hazra. Ha ha ha Singhji was very happy to lift that Mandar Bose. Ami baari jaabo, at Kolkata?arrey Mukul, we will also go there?come come?We have to end the film ?Sonar Kella? here only. Hats off to our all ?time champion director ?Satyajit Ray?, for gifting this film to the Indian Cinema.
