Profoundly moving and deeply insightful film about a singer, his songs and the land that birthed them both. Extraordinary cinematography with minimal dialogue yields intensely meaningful moments, stitched together seamlessly, if also subtly. Not for everyone. But for those with patience and seeing eyes it is a marvel.

I loved this film! I'm sure it's not for everyone, but I found it very touching and emotional. It reflects an Irish homeland that my parents grew up in and tells a story that I had heard from many different people growing up. It also is masterfully produced and uses skillful filmmaking to really draw you in. I highly recommend it!!

A quietly stunning, gorgeously shot biopic about enigmatic Irish folk singer Joe Heaney that's as much a tribute to his homeland as the artist himself. Assembled almost wholly as a collection of painterly b&w static shots, this unconventional biography is light on narrative but overflowing with the stark beauty of its cinematography and Heaney's haunting songs.
