Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/06/22 Full Review Apollo M Another decent melancholic gay French drama film. Even how melodramatic and over-sentimental the story is, I can't quite catch the movie's flow and emotion here. Other than that, everything is satisfactory. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/05/20 Full Review Audience Member Christophe Honoré crafts an ultimately universal love - and death - story that alternates between beautiful and melancholic moments with the grace of a poet and the soul of a true filmmaker that reveals life itself. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A bit pointless, unnecessarily long. I’m sure there are better ways to discuss life, love, and death. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/20 Full Review dave d For a movie that centers around a lot of sex, 'Sorry Angel', is remarkably safe and uniquely unlikable. French films are distinctly gorgeous in many forms, and this is no exception, but when we have a lead character who is profoundly mean and selfish with no character arc, it's particularly hard to find someone or something to root for besides the movie's end. At well over two hours, it's a slog. I found myself hitting the pause button quite a bit. There are distinguished performances and music to match, but there's a lot missing. Writer and director Christophe Honoré wedges in characters, unexplained, and they vanish nearly as quickly. In a movie this long, several secondary characters could have been fleshed out. It's clear, the filmmaker has vision and he's developed a decent story, but it doesn't quite come together. Perhaps a little less overindulgence and a bit tighter would have done it. Final Score: 4.9/10 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked the character of the older man. But the movie is too long, too talkative, and the younger guy comes off as a jerk. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Tara Brady Irish Times A dying-young movie where everything else is working towards a strangely low-key and life-affirming dénouement. Rated: 4/5 Apr 26, 2019 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) Mostly it's an enervating portrait, stodgy and flaccid, of two twits in love. Rated: 2/5 Mar 25, 2019 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Honoré's picture is mannered, overlong and, at times, insufferably arch. Rated: 2/5 Mar 24, 2019 Full Review Michael Cuby them. By the time the couple confronts the unfortunate reality of their ill-fated romance, you’ve already fallen in love with both. Nov 16, 2022 Full Review Yasmin Omar Town & Country (UK) Anchored by the fluid performances of its charismatic leads, Sorry Angel is a delicate study of the human impact of the Aids crisis. Rated: 4/5 Jun 25, 2021 Full Review Matthew St. Clair Cinema Sentries Thanks to the dynamic chemistry between the two leads, Sorry Angel is heartfelt, sensual, and devastating with a sly gut punch of a climax.
