If anything, Soul is guilty of over-ambition. The wizardry and wit are there, but it lacks Pixar’s usual deftness in making complex themes sing for youngsters. Go to Full Review

It is a little scattergun in its approach, and the ontology may be a bit much for kids, but even they will relate to its message about appreciating life’s smaller pleasures, which this year feels like a good one. Go to Full Review

Nadine C @ncortez.rt Dec 17 this film made me look at life differently and gain more appreciation for the day to day mundane activities. the animation is stunning as always. will rewatch tonight! See more Ian A Dec 12 I watched this the day it came out on Disney Plus during COVID, and had an interesting feel for it in the time it was like back then. See more Miguel C @Miguel3110 Dec 3 Soul é um filme incrível, tem uma mensagem poderosa, visual deslumbrante e personagens carismáticos e, ao mesmo tempo, profundos. See more Leshaun D Nov 28 Honestly, this is one of the best animated movies I’ve watched in a long time. The moral behind the story was so beautifully crafted. What stood out to me the most is how the film explores the idea that something you’re great at doesn’t always blossom the way you imagine, and that’s okay. Just because you’re passionate about something doesn’t automatically make it your life’s purpose. Being good at one thing doesn’t mean you can’t discover or create another passion. The real message is to avoid developing tunnel vision. The things you love can lead you into many different walks of life, but if you get stuck feeling unhappy about not achieving something that might not be meant for you, you can completely miss out on what else is waiting for you. Soul is a reminder to stay open, stay curious, and let life guide you to meaning in unexpected ways. See more Layne A @poisontree Nov 23 Its optimism crossed into naivety. See more Christian M Nov 21 Not everything is right in this movie. 'Soul' is an animated film that delves deeply into existential questions, inviting the viewer to reflect on life's purpose and meaning. The work raises questions such as: What drives us to live? How do we find what makes us happy? What happens when our goals aren’t clear? The answers unfold through the character development of Joe and 22. One of the film’s greatest strengths is its ability to highlight the beauty of the everyday. It proposes that we appreciate the small details of daily life, reminding us that happiness doesn’t always come from major achievements, but from valuing and embracing the little things. This results in a balance between philosophy and entertainment. There are elements that may be debatable from both a narrative and ethical standpoint. For instance, the decisions Joe makes—although understandable within the metaphorical framework of the film—don’t always seem coherent with the reality of his character, creating a certain tension with how one might interpret the themes being presented. From a technical standpoint, 'Soul' stands out for its cinematography and set design. Its recreation of ordinary environments achieves a remarkable realism that strengthens the emotional connection with the characters. The animation, especially in its movements and expressions, feels surprisingly natural. The musical integration enhances the sensory experience, offering an appealing proposition for those who enjoy both animation and music. Despite having some personal discrepancies with the plot, the technical aspects reinforce my approval. It’s not Pixar’s best film, nor is it my favorite, of course. But it is recommended for those who want to reflect on life without overthinking it too much. See more Read all reviews
