Tom Long Detroit News What's frustrating about the film is that even though it's clear Stone is making a number of valid and important points about both media manipulation and America's untoward political influence, he's also so obviously biased in his reporting. Oct 2, 2010 Full Review Ethan Gilsdorf Boston Globe Stone has a crucial, overlooked viewpoint to impart, but as a documentary filmmaker, his content and technique are not terribly engaging. Rated: 2/4 Sep 30, 2010 Full Review London Evening Standard Risks alienating even those who instinctively side with [Stone's] political agenda. Rated: 2/5 Aug 3, 2010 Full Review Andrea Hubert NME (New Musical Express) ...a brilliantly made film, as one would expect, articulated by a master filmmaker and a brave and admirable pioneer for democracy. Rated: 4/5 May 19, 2021 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row As an examination of the geopolitical intricacies of a South America, South of the Border is a fascinating work. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Or It's Just Kind of Meh... Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Oliver Stone explores the current Bolivarian Revolution that is sweeping across South America. A good documentary but he fails to answer the regions notorious human rights vitiations. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an awesome documentary. Highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member It's engaging but Stone spends too much time asking the obvious--at least he lets the leaders speak. It's not Errol Morris but it's not Michael Moore at his worst, either, it's simply a good movie if one is interested but knows little of past American relations with their "friends" to the south. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member If you can get past the annoying translators speaking english behind the backs of some very powerful south american leaders and Oliver Stones penchant for smoosing them during his interviews it does portray a side that is not covered by the worlds media which depicts his subjects as dictators. It's useful to see these men and women shown in a different light and the fact that they are articulate in their answers. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
