Jordan Adler We Got This Covered Urgent, if sometimes muddled, Southern Rites is a powerful look at the entrenched racism of the Deep South. Rated: 7/10 May 18, 2015 Full Review Read all reviews

pj m Would love to see an update about this town. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review greg r Awful documentary by a racist filmmaker. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Not quite as focused as some of HBO's other documentaries but still sheds light on the ruin of society that is the south. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Southern rural small town Georgia where they still had segregated high school proms until 2011. Shows the racial polarity as it still exists as exposed by the shooting of a black teen by an old white man in the midst of a close sheriff's race by the black chief of police for the county's biggest town. There's alot more nuance & liberal thinking than first appears at the begining of the show, but, really, 1yr for murder of a late night booty call perp still seems to favor white sensibilities over black justice. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member 2 very interesting & intertwined story lines about racism in South Georgia. Available on HBO. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Powerful. Relevant. Resonant. The hidden hand of systemic racism exposed for all to see.
