Marya E. Gates RogerEbert.com We're meant to feel uplifted, and for a moment, we are. But despite the film’s rosy resolution, as the film fades to black, the fact that we are still on a dying planet continues to loom large. Rated: 2/4 Mar 31, 2023 Full Review Ben Kenigsberg New York Times Serious subject matter aside, the movie is as bogus as Alex’s prospects of being an astronaut. Mar 30, 2023 Full Review Manuel Betancourt Variety If the film never quite finds a way to marry its high concept premise, its twee romance, and its family melodrama into one cohesive narrative, it is not for lack of trying. Sep 28, 2022 Full Review Jason Delgado Film Threat A great cast that makes the film hum along for the brisk 92-minute runtime. Rated: 8/10 Apr 14, 2023 Full Review T.J. Callahan AWFJ.org In Space Oddity, the leading character, Alex, says space is safe and so was writer/director KyraSedgwick with her storytelling. Apr 10, 2023 Full Review Wade Major FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's sweet and charming, if a little lacking in dramatic punch. Apr 7, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Giorgio G Though it has Kevin Bacon and is directed by his wife Kyra Sedgwick, it simply does not cut it. It just has nothing to say. Guy wants to go to Mars, guy falls in love, guy decides not to go. The end!!! 2/10 points. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/17/24 Full Review Anita C I wasted my time on this. Only watched because Kyra directed it. Not a story I could relate to. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/10/23 Full Review Lisa The movie was heartfelt and showed a different side of family going through grief. It was an easy watch. Other reviews are trying to take this movie waaayyy too seriously. It does go on too much a climate change but that's about it. I wasn't watching this thinking it would be an oscar contender. It's just a nice movie that's worth watching. You feel what they're feeling and that what counts. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/26/23 Full Review Mariastephan O The movie has a good plot, it's sweet, romantic, and has some comedy, some of the characters could have been developed a little bit more but as a whole, the idea was there. Especially the message that the writer is trying to share with Alex, is truly what this movie's meaning is. It was heart warming to watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/14/23 Full Review Frank L Despite Kyle Allen's (Alex) lackluster performance, the rest of the cast manages to salvage the movie with their best efforts in a predictable plot. The most rewarding aspect of the film is the development of Jeff and his daughter Liz's relationship, as Liz's tough exterior gradually melts away to reveal her love for growing flowers. However, with the looming threat of a ruined planet and inevitable destruction, it seemed likely that Alex would leave for Mars. The cover of David Bowie's iconic song, "Space Oddity," provides a glimmer of hope. But unfortunately, the final plot twist was predictable and underwhelming, resulting in a mediocre rating of 5.5/10, which can be rounded up to 6/10. Would I recommend this movie to watch? No. If you watch, would you like it? Not sure! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/20/23 Full Review Michael D Great script with a great cast. Enjoyable film.
