What to Know

Critics Consensus

Spaceman's poignant themes are partly brought to life by sensitive performances from a talented cast, but it fails to consistently engage with its most interesting ideas.

Audience Says

Spaceman definitely isn't for everybody, but it does a decent job of adapting a slow, cerebral story that's easier to engage with in print.

No matter how much Sandler makes the audience feel for Jakub, it can be hard to sustain an entire picture with nothing more than overarching sadness. And “Spaceman” never finds another register. Go to Full Review

It's a little too slow and a little too philosophical. Go to Full Review

Spaceman is ultimately Sandler’s show but it’s one astronaut movie that ultimately seems very short on rocket fuel. Go to Full Review

[Spaceman] is an unconventional couples therapy that leaves a bittersweet aftertaste. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

For whatever reason, everyone in this film seems to have been instructed to speak with the lethargic, hypnotic delivery of a depressed masseuse. Go to Full Review

Sandler mostly exhibits moments of loneliness and despair, and it is not too often that his character is seen freaking out to a high degree. Go to Full Review

Andrea K @Andrea420 Dec 21 Just because yall didnt understand the story doesnt mean its automatically a bad movie. The movie was actually really good and showed well how sadness and loneliness can look like, and plus i liked how they talked about the history of my country. So for anyone wondering if you should watch it, go for it. See more Paul O @pjkeys Dec 16 This movie is difficult to watch as it plods along like a Czech spaceship left over from the cold war. It is very depressing and I have not finished it because it is too tortuous to sit through. A failing marriage, decrepit space equipment and a depressed astronaut whose only relief from monotony besides the alien is a malfunctioning toilet. See more Dan G @Danmogo Dec 14 Truly terrible writing, acting, plot. I’ve never seen a movie fall so far short of its own ambitions. See more James A. @HurricaneJim2025 Dec 14 Not bad 😀 Unusual Movie for Adam Sandler See more Deborah P Nov 23 I watched the trailer on roku tv showing Adam Sandler, but when I went in yo watch the movie there was some really badly made movie that had nothing to do with him at all See more Renato M @Kutusov Nov 8 I didn't know what I was getting into but I haven't enjoyed a movie so much for quite a while. It's not a popcorn movie, it's not a cuddly shallow love story. I kept thinking "Solaris". Not such a masterpiece of writing. But there's a retro 70s Soviet Union space program vibe to it and I felt it is a beautiful way to tell a story of beginnings, ends and renewals. Both cosmic and personal, of personal relations with others and yourself. You feel it more than you rationally understand it. And it's not pretentious at all, there's kind of light naivete to really heavy stuff. I bet most people hated it, so now off to read other comments. See more Read all reviews
