Lifelong friends Jim Kimmerlee (Henry Fonda) and Tyler Dawson (George Raft) are fishermen in Alaska, but they find themselves in conflict over pirates who steal fish from nets. While Jim, who is successful and owns his own cannery, sides with a group of fishermen intent on defending their livelihood with deadly force, Tyler, on the other hand, has joined up with Russian fishing pirate Red Skain (Akim Tamiroff), despite the protests of his girlfriend, Nicky (Dorothy Lamour).
