Audience Member Interesting documentary on state of electronic music (or lack of) in US Rated 3.5/5 Stars •  Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Probably won't "speak" much to you if you're not a fan of dance music. But you have all the more reason to watch it if you are. An honest look at a few of the characters in today's global (ok, so mostly Berlin but still) techno scene, far and away better than most of the dance music videos/interviews that are out there polluting the internet now. The simple fact is, it's tough to make dance music seem exciting on a video that you are watching on your television or computer; the whole scene exists in dark clubs, dancing with strangers, often aided by drugs or alcohol. But this film succeeds, with emotionally compelling characters and some well-placed music pieces. What I ultimately took away from the film was that it is possible to have a busy, active, and fulfilling life based in dance music; just don't expect it to be financially secure or well-rested. And if you haven't checked out the music of The Field, an artist featured a few different times in the film, do your self a favor and do so.
