jjjjjj j Hard to sum up or describe. A film that hits at ones core. So many films feel disturbing by portraying disturbing things. Yet this film gave that same feeling without every having outright crazy. A bit weird, as a non-korean speaker a bit hard to follow at times but overall beautiful and emotionally powerful. I can not say I fully understand this movie or what is completely trying to say but the feelings of both pain and lose and the uncertainty of knowings ones self just seem to bleed through from this film independently of what the overarching message is and for that reason to for me it a great movie and worth a watch for anyone. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Geomi sup (international title: "Spider Forest") excels in introducing the viewer to a world, in which everything is uncertain and up for discussion. Structurally and thematically the movie creates a rich atmosphere, with its creative and witty use of storytelling, and with its unreliable narrator. It falters somewhat in easing viewers into this otherworldly experience - making several plot twists rather predictable. Ultimately, it succeeds in transferring a dreamlike, surreal psychological fugue to a series of episodes, that must be rearranged, interpreted, and completed by the viewer. Overall 7/10 Read Full Review: https://movie-discourse.blogspot.de/2017/12/geomi-sup-sko-2004.html Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member i had to turn it off; it was weird & slow. & not scary. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Spider Forest is unbeatable in the confusion department (even more so than the brilliant A Tale Of Two Sisters). This South Koreon low-budget mystery/horror/thriller/romance/drama (take your pick) is remarkably good at what it does which is 'keep you guessing'. As usual to the casual viewer this would be sheer hell, scenes jump from past-present and vice versa with no warning. You don't know which character is which and why something is happening but this all adds to this features charm. Some people would call this an absolute mess of a film which could have done with a lot of editing. However what saves this film from being just 'another asian flick' is its iconicness. The acting is brilliant, the main character took about 1/3 of the budget of the film but it was necessary. There are some lovely musical scores and shockingly bad scenes which are executed so well. This is not a film for the faint-hearted and comparisons could easily be made to that of the Vengeance trilogy in content. Strong language, violence, gore, horror and bucket loads of sex have drenched this film but it managed to acheive a 15 rating in the Uk, the strongest of which i have ever seen. Overall if you stick at it and have several viewings you still won't understand everything but this is a film which you remember because of the sheer beauty of some of the scenes and acting. Its heartfelt and potrays regret and horror in a brilliantly tragic way. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member complete agreement: Tsubaki Sanjuro "Interesting premise, good start, but the story is told in the most cryptic way possible. Far from engaged i was a bit annoyed and hardly that interested in the characters."
