Kristy Puchko Pajiba Brace yourself for an explosive and gory coming-of-age comedy, because Spontaneous is sensational, sick, and shouldn't be missed (again). Jan 5, 2021 Full Review Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald Estimable Australian Katherine Langford is fun and feisty as American schoolgirl Mara, and she has a great, tender chemistry with Charlie Plummer, who plays her sweet-natured boyfriend. Nov 11, 2020 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News An absurdly funny, gripping and moving film that boasts one of the best screenplays of the year. Rated: 3.5/4 Oct 15, 2020 Full Review Ashleigh Gozy Loud and Clear Reviews Spontaneous, writer-turned-director Brian Duffield’s debut, manages to be unnerving, from the heart, and especially relevant to today’s world, making it one of the year’s best surprises. Rated: 4/5 Nov 16, 2024 Full Review Jared Mobarak Hey, Have You Seen ...? That's how good Langford and Plummer are. Their snarky, sarcastic rapport makes light of everything so that they can smile through the horror. Rated: 8/10 Sep 29, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Spontaneous” is the kind of movie that is sure to find an audience, but it’s skittish genre hopping could just as easily turn some people off. Carlos P Terrible, the movie is based on a supposed chemistry between the protagonists, that drama and that behavior of the protagonist is supposed to be credible because we have lived that connection, Now the connection was never like that, the period of high school love was not credible, the acting was like the name of the movie two teenagers being spontaneous, exaggerated laughter without sense, jokes without laughter, it is as if they had imposed on me that there is chemistry there and it is accepted and that's it... I never felt human representation in that exposed reality. And the Hook of the explosions also had no hook, there were no levels in the event, they simply began to explode and stopped exploding... oh really? There was no crescendo in the level. She did an excellent job in 13 reasons why, I hope that the next scripts are better chosen. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Kate B An absolutely stunning film. The characters feel real and relatable and you genuinely care about what happens to them. The pacing was perfect without a single dull moment. Excellent balance of comedy and drama. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/07/24 Full Review Jeremy A This is a great movie. I'm a little upset at the ending. 4* Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Ernest B Quick tip for writers of horror-comedies: the final 45 minutes should not be devastatingly sad. That's not what viewers are looking for. Otherwise excellent movie, ruined by third act tonal misadventure. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Alyssa D The absolute worst movie I have ever seen. Seeing the rotten tomatoes score makes the website lose all credibility. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/19/24 Full Review Chester The relationship between sweethearts Mara and Dylan and how they react to their high school world falling apart around them forms the core of this dark comedy-horror film. Katherine Langford has 90% of the funny lines and the actress' timing and delivery are perfect, but many viewers may find her snippiness to be more annoying than endearing. Charlie Plummer is a dead ringer for the oldest brother from the pop group Hanson. Once a few of the students die, it actually becomes supenseful because you wonder who will be affected next. But I anticipated what would eventually happen and the change in this movie's tone that would occur. In real life, the vast majority of people would go insane knowing that, at any second, they might violently explode and it is not quite as simple as "que sera sera." If a scientific explanation as to the reason for the sudden deaths is given , I must have missed that part. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/24 Full Review Read all reviews
