Joel P Don't be duped as I was by the positive audience reviews: this movie sucks. However, if you're going to watch it, be ready to suspend your disbelief and logic, from the highest point of Mount Vesuvius. The one and two star reviews are completely accurate. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/07/24 Full Review Jeremy I'm a big fan of Moorhead and Benson since seeing Resolution and The Endless. If I gave one of them 4 stars and the other was better 4.5. This was better than both imo! So I have to give it 5! Awesome movie all around. Really enjoyed the hell out of it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review Jim P No, it's not very good. Mainly because of the woeful script… If you want supernatural, try Flatliners, or Under The Skin. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review Alec B Do yourself a favor and watch the film without doing any research into the plot. I guarantee that even if you don't like it, you'll at least be incredibly surprised by what transpires. Essentially, the filmmakers have melded two genres and in doing so, invigorate each genre separately by the presence of the other one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Kevin L Not sure how I missed seeing this one sooner, as much as I admire the work of Benson and Moorhead. Their movies and work on tv series just hits right where I like to be. There's such a sense of vitality and fresh ideas in their creative output. There's also a warmth and calm composure to much of it. I felt that in "Spring", even amid the body horror aspects of the movie. I loved it. I see how Lou Taylor Pucci would get award notice for his performance as Evan. He shows such a deep grasp of his character and maintains that sense of self throughout the movie. He's clearly more than just a simple guy who's barely seen any of the world or invested in its mysteries. The same can be said for the power of Nadia Hilker's acting here. I have to look up more of her work cuz she's stunning as this scientist who is also one of those mysteries that Evan only had hints about from books and horror films. She's a gorgeous presence in a film with so much glorious scenery, both in the rural Italian countryside, and Naples, as well as man-made structures of antiquity. And Francesco Carnelutti is marvelous as Angelo. Credit also to Bucci and Specchio for additional directing. Plus, nice work with sound and makeup. Well done in the editing, too, as this is taut, economical filmmaking that leaves nothing more in than is needed. I can see why Guillermo Del Toro called it "...one of the best horror films of this decade.", saying it "has blown me away." It is spring again, and changes will come. Just as the flowers blossom and shrivel, trees splice into two fruit bearers, and Vesuvius springs back to take life but leave rich soil to bring on more. 3.8 stars Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/14/23 Full Review Lagrange P Spring is a Lovecraftian genre bender that ultimately stands on the premise that love conquers all. It takes the concept of gender fluidity to a new level along the way, and explores humanity and its nature, rebirth, and the nature and power of love before the credits roll. This is one of Benson & Moorehead's best films, moving into new territory just as you think you have things figured out, and ending on a surprisingly uplifting ending that fills you with dread right up until the moment it doesn't. The script is solid if a bit convoluted and no "rules," are clearly established, but in the end that keeps viewers guessing. A film that's a lot of fun but that will leave you thinking long after the lights come up. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rudolph Herzog Newsweek In Spring, though, the MacGuffin hijacks the film. Its "mystery" element is also its weakness. Oct 3, 2017 Full Review David Jenkins Little White Lies It's a film whose individual parts are perhaps more impressive than the whole, with innovative drone-cam shots, some special effects work which recalls John Carpenter's The Thing and two very committed and empathetic lead performances. Rated: 3/5 May 27, 2015 Full Review Ed Potton Times (UK) A bit like a cross between Before Sunrise and An American Werewolf in London but nowhere near as good as either. Rated: 2/5 May 21, 2015 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts It's really unique, it kind of has its own sub-genre and I really recommend it to everybody. Rated: 8/10 May 7, 2021 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine Genre elements swirl around them - part fantasy, part science fiction - but the core of the film is something more complex, effective, and worthwhile. Rated: 8/10 Feb 19, 2021 Full Review Kat Hughes THN Spring is an incredible haunting and romantic tale that will make the heart ache in the way that only those really special films can manage.
