Audience Member Interesting character and story... almost loses focus but manages to keep it together throughout. This also earns the distinction of succeeding where many others have failed - making me like a heist/bank robber movie. I think that can be attributed to not wasting a whole lot of time explaining their plans to the audience. Also, every complaint I had for the last 3-4 films I watched (too slow) was not a problem here. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Liam D A underrated movie This Drama I highly recommend and it's one of my favourite movies based on a True Story Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/03/21 Full Review Audience Member Great movie. Interesting, lots of action and humour. Fabulous actors. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A must watch if you have any interest in heist movies, are a fan of good action movies, or a fan of classic 70s movie style. The way this movie is shot is beautiful, the color palette, lens filter, costume design and essentially anything visual about this movie is stunning. The acting and writing is all top tier as well. Its a shame this movie isnt more widely known I thought it was near flawless in every way and deserves more recognition. An underrated gem is an understatement. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Frances H Interesting biopic of a notorious cop turned bank robber, a story I vaguely remember from long ago. Thomas Jane does quite a good job as the title character. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/29/17 Full Review dave j Wednesday, October 1, 2014 (2014) Stander BIO-CRIME DRAMA Based on an actual person by the name of Andre Stander, played by Thomas Jane who was made infamous for robbing several high class banks all across Africa. It showcases step by step, as well as a suggesting a possible motivation for the reason he did it which is cliché to say the least, which has something to do with the suppression and segregation of African natives from white Caucasian laws. Andre gets caught at some point during the movie, and then escapes again recruiting two other people. All I can say is that it's strictly by the book which is no different than any other heist movie made before and perhaps after it. On the commercial cover, it says it's like a Quentin Tarantino movie, but when you actually watch it it's nothing but... meaning that, one can almost predict everything that happened here. And I was also quite disappointed that I wasn't able to see the actual picture of the real Andre Stanton until after I went to the "Special features" which would've been much more effective had it been shown on the credits. 2 out of 4 stars Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
