Released in 2000, Eminem's song "Stan" -- about an obsessive, unstable fan -- remains iconic. So iconic that the term stan was officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017. In the song, the titular character handwrites a series of emotional letters to Eminem, repeating the line: I'm just like you. That refrain serves as a guiding light for this unconventional and fully authorized feature, which follows a highly curated cast of real-life stans whose deep personal connections to Eminem mirror some of the themes found throughout his lyrics. More than just an exploration of fandom, the film examines the complicated relationship between one of the world's most private artists and his massive public persona. Through stylized recreations, rare archival footage, intimate interviews, and an exclusive original interview with Eminem himself, it offers a raw, loud, and revealing journey across his career -- and the passionate audience that has grown with him.

John Anderson Wall Street Journal The anatomy of obsession is an absorbing enough topic in an age of runaway social media and the false sense of intimacy it can engender among the celebrity-fixated. But it's a curious juxtaposition Mr. Leckart constructs. Aug 22, 2025 Full Review David Jenkins Little White Lies The stans themselves are not massively interesting, and the film is happy to frame them as whimsically eccentric nerds rather than anything more psychologically problematic. Rated: 2/5 Aug 12, 2025 Full Review Adam Graham Detroit News "Stans" isn't the be-all, end-all telling of Eminem's tale, but it puts his stamp on it for now, using the lens of his fans to give it perspective. Rated: B Aug 11, 2025 Full Review Stephen Silver The SS Ben Hecht At its core, it’s a documentary produced by Eminem’s production company, which is primarily about how Eminem is awesome and how Eminem’s fans all think he’s awesome. This is PR and brand maintenance, not documentary. Aug 29, 2025 Full Review Alex Maidy JoBlo's Movie Network While unlikely to turn viewers into fans of Eminem, Stans is a reminder of just how talented Eminem is and how influential his music has been for decades. Markael C Did not like the people they interviewed but besides that it was good . Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Daniyar As Eminem fan, this movie is an absolute must watch. The sheer love Eminems put into making this movie is phenomenal. I felt warm after watching this movie - felt like being talked to. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Brittany Great movie!!! Totally worth it and Im so glad my nephew found out about it since it wasnt advertised! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/13/25 Full Review Chase I didn’t finish it. My girlfriend and I left around 45 minutes into it. I can enjoy a good documentary but this wasn’t one. We’re both huge Eminem fans, but we couldn’t sit through the whole thing. I didn’t care about the super obsessive Em fanatics or their opinions on him. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review Michelle C I thought it was pretty good, but the balance between fans testimonials and music footage by Eminem should have been more equaled out. Got very dark at times listening to so much of what fans were saying. Too little concert footage of Eminem which would have made it more enjoyable to sit through. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review David Was thrilled to watch the movie. Its a great mix of multiple fans experiences with growing up listening to Eminem and the impact his music has had on them while also allowing Eminem to explain deeper in why he does what he does. Absolutely a great documentary to watch for fans!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review Read all reviews
