Released in 2000, Eminem's song "Stan" -- about an obsessive, unstable fan -- remains iconic. So iconic that the term stan was officially added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017. In the song, the titular character handwrites a series of emotional letters to Eminem, repeating the line: I'm just like you. That refrain serves as a guiding light for this unconventional and fully authorized feature, which follows a highly curated cast of real-life stans whose deep personal connections to Eminem mirror some of the themes found throughout his lyrics. Even if I wasn't a die-hard Eminem fan, I would still find great value in this look into his career and one of a kind fandom. The doc excels in highlighting a selection of unique superfans (Stans), while also detailing Marshall's trials and tribulations.

When an artist is a producer of a documentary about fans gushing about how the artist made their lives better, it's the cinematic equivalent of a humble brag. Stans is an adequate Eminem tribute film (produced by Eminem) with no new substantial info.

I didn’t finish it. My girlfriend and I left around 45 minutes into it. I can enjoy a good documentary but this wasn’t one. We’re both huge Eminem fans, but we couldn’t sit through the whole thing. I didn’t care about the super obsessive Em fanatics or their opinions on him.

I thought it was pretty good, but the balance between fans testimonials and music footage by Eminem should have been more equaled out. Got very dark at times listening to so much of what fans were saying. Too little concert footage of Eminem which would have made it more enjoyable to sit through.

Was thrilled to watch the movie. Its a great mix of multiple fans experiences with growing up listening to Eminem and the impact his music has had on them while also allowing Eminem to explain deeper in why he does what he does. Absolutely a great documentary to watch for fans!!
