A surprise attack in outer space forces the Enterprise to crash-land on a mysterious world. The assault came from Krall (Idris Elba), a lizard-like dictator who derives his energy by sucking the life out of his victims. Krall needs an ancient and valuable artifact that's aboard the badly damaged starship. Left stranded in a rugged wilderness, Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the crew must now battle a deadly alien race while trying to find a way off their hostile planet.

Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online A fun popcorn movie that highlights the value of teamwork and a good playlist (priceless core values in life). Rated: B+ Mar 21, 2017 Full Review Dwight Brown National Newspaper Publishers Association The result is a taut piece of filmmaking, with perfectly choreographed action scenes and a rapid-fire pace that only leaves time to gasp for air Nov 8, 2016 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com The best thing about Beyond is that it remembers that the core strength of Star Trek is the camaraderie and friendship of the Enterprise's leadership unit. Julian L A very enjoyable sequel to Star Trek Beyond and even when it steals a few scenes, such as the Enterprise-D crash but it was better made. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review Blu B A Franchise Classic. This defintely has (though pretty standard) character development and it does feel more like a Star Trek film in the sense of exploring Sci-Fi ideas. It's noticeable and for those that are fans of the JJ Abrams action style it may turn them off somewhat here but this does have lots of action too. It finds a pretty good balance I think in that sense. The actin gis once again the most consistent thing with solid performances across the board. Save for the generic villian who was kind of a letdown I feel and reminded me of Apocalypse from X-Men. (Not a good thing) Editing and pacing were pretty balanced too and this does a better job as said before of mixing Star Trek type ideas, character expansion with the action that goes with the New Era Trilogy. Sometimes it does get a bit jumpy though going between Spock & the Doctor back to Kirk and Scottie. But it works well enough honestly. The biggest two issues are the music which is pretty much an exact copy of the last one and really just didn't stand out on it's own at all. It's not bad but defintely would've appreciated it's own thing more. The cinemaotgraphy also isn't bad but it's a bit of a step down I feel just because the direction isn't as good as JJ's. Sometimes things can feel pretty basic and this relies heavily on CGI. The battle scenes are borderline oversaturated with the stuff and it would feel nicer if models or more practical things were used. Despite arguably Into Darkness being the better made film from a fundamental perspective (Not a Star Trek Fan one) I honestly like this one a bit more though there pretty even. Despite not as strong direction and distinction, I like how it feels more like a Star Trek movie. Anyone who is a fan of the franchise especially the new trilogy, the director, any actors in this, or Sci-Fi should check this out. Great way to wrap a great trilogy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/25 Full Review Travis C Hands down the most Star Trek Kelvin film. Finally these films feel like proper Trek. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/25/25 Full Review Stephen C LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/24 Full Review David H Worst of the JJ movies. Good casting / characters can't save terrible writing and ridiculous Avengers / super-hero style production. Stunt motorcycles and non stop ninja fighting? This isn't Star Trek. The earlier movies have some great moments but everything here is rushed, forced, and direction is Fast and Furious style and it shows - what a sad waste of the character talent they had. The critics reviews praising this are a joke... Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/15/24 Full Review Audience Member I don’t care what anyone says I love this movie it’s so awesome and funny.
