A surprise attack in outer space forces the Enterprise to crash-land on a mysterious world. The assault came from Krall (Idris Elba), a lizard-like dictator who derives his energy by sucking the life out of his victims. Krall needs an ancient and valuable artifact that's aboard the badly damaged starship. Left stranded in a rugged wilderness, Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the crew must now battle a deadly alien race while trying to find a way off their hostile planet.

Star Trek Beyond continues the franchise's post-reboot hot streak with an epic sci-fi adventure that honors the series' sci-fi roots without skimping on the blockbuster action.

Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online A fun popcorn movie that highlights the value of teamwork and a good playlist (priceless core values in life). Rated: B+ Mar 21, 2017 Full Review Dwight Brown National Newspaper Publishers Association The result is a taut piece of filmmaking, with perfectly choreographed action scenes and a rapid-fire pace that only leaves time to gasp for air Nov 8, 2016 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com The best thing about Beyond is that it remembers that the core strength of Star Trek is the camaraderie and friendship of the Enterprise's leadership unit. Rated: 3.5/4 Aug 9, 2016 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film Star Trek Beyond isn’t a bad film by any means, but its contrivances and off-focused writing stifles the film’s momentum and kills all continuity from the previous two films. Dave C Given this is under different leadership, you'd be hard pushed to feel it. Kudos to the team for keeping it close to how the franchise started with its first two movies. The story is solid, the cast continue to deliver, and the whole thing is as enjoyable as the older siblings Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review John L Starts well but becomes totally lame and formulaic once they land on the planet. Somehow reminiscent of an episode of the original series in a bad way. The villain lacks believability and buying into his backstory is a huge stretch. The film just loses it and gets out of control in many ways after the decent introductory scenes. Hope the next film is better. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Cat R Die hard Star trek fan...thought the new actors and story definitely worth the watch Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Master Y Into darkness is the best, then the original reboot... then this. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/18/24 Full Review harry p Don't get me wrong I like the star trek franchise. But the movie technology does not follow the time line of the enterprise and crew. The systems are far to advance. As a stand alone movie it's good. But just doesn't fit. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/17/24 Full Review Nicolás Alejandro F The story, the acting, the effects, and the way that it was filmed is really good!
