Dave S In Start the Revolution Without Me, two pairs of identical twins are separated at birth and, during the upheaval of the French Revolution, find their roles reversed in later life. The movie has its merits, among them the performances of Donald Sutherland and Gene Wilder in dual roles, some nice sets and costume design, and a handful of funny set pieces. However, much of the comedy misses the mark as it resorts to silly pratfalls and eventually succumbs to its own manic energy. Those who love Mel Brooks-like slapstick will probably get a kick out of the antics while others will probably find the whole exercise more exhausting than the storming of the Bastille. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review S R I saw it for its cast and ratings. It had its witty writing here and there and humorous situations, but it still was a bit tedious despite the visual gags. Saw on TCM.
