David D "Steel Will" is well noted and now a cult following movie by director Eugene Khazin, who's works always stood out. Not sure how he do it, but again and again this filmmaker managed to put unusual and darker twist on seemingly ordinary ideas. That was the thing with his first big work of "Trick of the Old Cat", and I remember how people saw and actively discussed "Steel Will" during Palm Spring film festival. Seeing how this cyberpunk boxing deama re-emerged bow on streaming brought me to re-watch it - and its still as detailed, well crafted and gritty work, as first time I saw it on big screen. I now eagerly wait on sequel! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Lana R Dark, gritty, deep, tense, painful. Just wow! Grabs and holds you near screen. Definetly vibes of something Warhammer or Alien, cyberpunk at its core. Now want to see how same team will handle bigger projects. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/30/25 Full Review Nick K Loved it and recommend. From boxing dramas i saw so far, most trying to put upfront only, well, boxing scenes itself. "Steel Will" has not forget another crucial part - drama. Cast managed to deliver so good and believable interactions - love and quarells of Sean Ferguson and Oksana Platero, or worry and guidance from character of Mark Heron. And when i looked up credits - saw where it came from. SW was directed by Eugene Khazin, cult following filmmaker, whos trait is this kind of deeper, two layered characters and stories. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/28/25 Full Review Darkny H Blasted away! I want a full feature now with this characters. Barely can remember any other bigger budget movie, that managed to convey so good action sequences, and especially camera work - feeling of presence in the moment is right on spot. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/28/25 Full Review Oija K Can't say was expecting much from this movie. After all - it is just an indie short. But - was left positively impressed after final credits roll. Team under directions of mr. Khazin done solid job, hitting those Blade Runnerish vibes on spot. Especially character of trainer Harley - performed by Mark Heron. Loved how he showed concern, and reflected pains and struggle of others characters in frame. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/27/25 Full Review JC D This movie rocked my world hard! Tense, suspenfull, full of emotional swings - pretty wild ride. And when i saw that music score was done by non other than Chris Wirsig - set my mind to find and watch. Was not left dissapointed, not last cause soundtrack gone just so well with on-screen story, along all those turns and story revelations. Now set to get score as separate album, if possible Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/26/25 Full Review Read all reviews
