Audience Member Tom Skeritt (Alien) is good and there’s some Ka references for Dark Tower fans. Other than that I don’t remember being too fond of this movie. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/17/23 Full Review steve d A really effective adaptation with a great cast. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review paul s One of if not the best Stephen King adaptation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review ryan s 2.5/5. Desperation starts off incredibly strong with an awesome and terrifying performance from Ron Pearlman. Once he leaves the film, all that's left is a ton of religious dialogue being shoved down our throats. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review georgan g Stephen King has quite a creative mind, but this script had *everything* scary thrown in. Spiders, snakes, demons, you name it. Just not the quality I have come to expect from King (& he wrote the screenplay!). Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member it starts as an interesting horror flick. Then it turns into a revival meeting. "We must do what God tells us to do". Then it has a brief turn as a history lesson on the Chinese and the mining industry. And it then returns to a God fest. Whole bunch of praying and saved souls and blah blah. If it had stayed a horror flick, I would have liked it. Don't bother. John Leonard New York Magazine/Vulture ... what makes Desperation special-effective is writing, acting, direction, and the sense that these people know something. Jan 18, 2018 Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed The script shoves the religious overtones down our throat almost mercilessly... May 26, 2011 Full Review Read all reviews
