Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Like Hearts of Darkness, this documentary follows the making of a movie on which more than a million feet of film was reportedly exposed, but sadly Le Mans is no Apocalypse Now. Rated: 2/5 Nov 22, 2015 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) There is real poignancy here in the reminiscences of McQueen's former wife Neile Adams and his son, Chad. Like the Le Mans movie itself, the doc sometimes loses its focus but it is beautifully made. Rated: 4/5 Nov 20, 2015 Full Review Kate Muir Times (UK) Beginning with its punning title, Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans proves to be a clunky film about the actor's obsession with motor racing, and his incredibly expensive attempt to make Le Mans. Rated: 2/5 Nov 19, 2015 Full Review Pat Stacey The Herald (Ireland) The race sequences, shot with car-mounted cameras, are dazzling, but otherwise it's a bore. Mind you, the documentary's suggestion that McQueen stuck to safe fare like The Getaway and The Towering Inferno thereafter is wrong. Rated: 3/5 Mar 19, 2020 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens [A]n intimate portrait of a man who is at a crossroads in his life...taking us around the track and into the pits with the making of "Le Mans" and all the behind-the-scenes drama that was unfolding in the world of Steve McQueen. Nov 29, 2019 Full Review Nick Evan-Cook One Room With A View Enjoyable and revealing, but it never quite feels like it's digging as deep as you'd like it to. Rated: 3/5 Apr 19, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Josh R I think this is the best documentary about Steve McQueen! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/23 Full Review Audience Member its interesting but the running time should have been significantly reduced. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A strong documentary about Steve McQueen's passion project that ended up being a flop at the box office. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review s r Insightful and well made. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent this was a pivotal film in my childhood and this documentary brings all that back. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I will admit I found this movie intriguing . I saw his slade blue 930 recently go at Barrett Jackson. It had a kill switch on the dash to kill the tail lights to help shake the cops thru the Hollywood hills. ( badass)ð' I found out he too shared my Porsche Passion. So I thought I would watch. No new material really. Kinda was a bit drawn out. Little too much of his strange son. But it was cool to hear and see those old cars run. It is crazy how fast they went with so little safety in those old cars . It did make Mcqeen look like a dick most of the movie. But he could drive no doubt. This one he wanted to be his one great work. But it ended up being a big defeat. From a personal and business standpoint. Camera work was pretty cool and incredible considering this movie is 40 years old. Not sure how anyone other than a small group of gear heads would get from it. But it was decent.
