When your movie is based on a joke, you need a strong script and likable characters to make it work unfortunately Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot doesn't do that as the characters are annoying and the script has all the tropes of a buddy-cop movie.

Oh come on people this movie is not that bad. I found it entertaining as a kid growing up in the 80'and 90's. It's funny and heartwarming. It's a great to see a huge action star like Stallone get in touch with his softer side and do a comedy like this. I think most people are being a little to critical on the bad reviews here.

So yeah it's bad. Mainly because it's a dumb idea for a plot of a movie and should've been a 30 minute Bad sitcom episode or a 60 Minute TV Movie. Not a Major Theater release. Also, the comedy is not really funny at all. The acting is terrible because of the miscasting of Getty who is adorable but just miscast and has no chemistry at all with Stallone. Than as mentioned before the comedy is terrible. The villain is also terrible. This is so predictable as well. The cinematography is made up of dumb scenes constantly and while this isn't unfocused and actually has a focused narrative for the most part, it just boils down to this is a stupid idea and the scenes reflect it constantly with the simplest gags and surface level humor. The music bizarrely enough is also terrible and feels like it belongs in a kids tv show. It's crazy because the opening music track is actually good and kind of catchy. That being said this isn't one of the worst things ever and just a run of the mill bad comedy honestly. Not a broken down incoherent mess. And Getty is always a pleasure to watch but she's just out of place for the actual film. Skip this entirely and just watch Rocky and the Golden Girls instead.
