Par H @Parhwy 2d I haven’t watched this film since I was Storm Boy’s age when it was released. Well, I was 6. I’m now 55. That’s a long time. I do not recall how I watched it; perhaps… my nana used to take me to the movies when I’d stay at her house over school holidays. I was surprised at how well this film stands up. I was on my phone a little bit, NGL. I am unsure why they did a remake; this film holds up. The cinematography is so good. I enjoyed the acting (well, you can tell the difference between Fingerbone, the dad, Storm Boy and say, the stranded fisherman). Set, lighting, is pretty good. The hut interior felt authentic (as someone who holidayed in a similar hut out bush). The plot and story is efficient. When I first watched Storm Boy, I had a fair load of abandonment issues (divorce). Watching it now, I can see why I liked it: though it shows death-in-life and struggles, it showed hope and love. In this film, a boy's best friend is a pelican he rescued because his beach shack home is so isolated being distant from the nearest town, with access only by boat. A nice growing up film for all ages. Good acting and great direction, a well-made Ozzie film made in 1976. See more Read all reviews
