Steve K Excellent telling of the role of Canadians on D-Day which is rarely told by Americans or Brits. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Yukon S Amateurish dialogue and less than stellar acting. A TV production that conveys an historical record, just not very well. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/20/23 Full Review Chun P Great movie. As exciting as the first half hour of "Saving Private Ryan". Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/15/23 Full Review steve r Considering it is a relatively low-budget Canadian production I think they did a great job of recreating D-Day. This cannot be Saving Private Ryan given it's not a Hollywood Blockbuster but the acting was good and scenes were shot well. Definitely a great tribute to the Canadian contribution to WWII. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I remember watching this in grade 10 in my socials class. I don't know why, but I just love this movie. It has such a nostalgic feeling for me. When it comes to being historically accurate, I'd probably give it a 4/5 stars, but I just love this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member it had poorish acting and good special effects, but thats not what bugs me. What bugs me is the constant fucking narration. During an action scene, why is there a calm voice reading off a script? its basic movie skills i learned in theater in 6th grade. show dont tell. for fucks sake. "We had to kill that gun" in a boring tone. You know what would work? showing how important it was to destroy the gun. Im not joking, the narrator actually said "we heard a voice in the distance" like goddamn just show them hearing a voice. narration shouldnt happen every 15 seconds about every single thing. Everytime i was remotely excited they killed it by having a guy say in a calm voice "the fighting was fierce" Narration is good at the beginning or end as a look back on what happened, but holy fucking shit im not exxagerating every 10 seconds some asshole would tell me something.
