isla s This is a real 80s cult classic type film, with a gritty, noir-ish feel to it and a heavy emphasis on colour (neon lighting/artificial colour). It features an impressive cast - it's worth watching if 'just' to see Sting, Sean Bean and a youngish Tommy Lee Jones. It features slow jazz type music in the background and has perhaps a slight 'Blade Runner' feel to it, even though it doesn't have a futuristic setting - the fact its set specifically in Newcastle seemed random enough to me. Its quite a watchable and entertaining film, so I'd recommend it, yes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Character studies and noir films are heavily dependent on a great script, which this does no have. All of the atmosphere, quirky music, and camerawork could not save this movie. Very long build up for not much of a pay off. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review laurie s It was a good movie but that horrible screeching music was annoying. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent neo-noir, that's actually more of a romantic thriller. Where American gangster Tommy Lee Jones tries to move in on a British city in decline to carve out a piece for himself. Sting is actually pretty good in it. As is the chemistry between Bean and Griffith. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review ashley h Stormy Monday is a decent film. It is about a crooked American businessman who tries to push the shady influential owner of a nightclub to sell him the club. Melanie Griffith, Tommy Lee Jones, and Sting give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. Mike Figgis did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama and mystery. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent thriller has Tommy Lee Jones as an American businessman trying to force owners to sell him real estate in economically-depressed Newcastle. Danger ensues when a Jazz club owner refused his overtures. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
