Under the rule of Prince John (Hubert Gregg), fledgling hero Robin Hood (Richard Todd) is forced to relinquish his property after beating the Sheriff of Nottingham (Peter Finch) in an archery tournament. Robin forms a group of like-minded avengers to rise up against the taxes taken by Nottingham. Robin then tries to save King Richard from Austrian captivity by contributing to his ransom, but Prince John stands in the way of his plan, while Maid Marian (Joan Rice) is held hostage.

I happen to love movies made in an era when we had real actors and no cgi. If you like me want to watch a decent film from a bygone era I can thoroughly recommend this film.

Charming if you're into older movies and like the subject matter. Nice to see the early Disney movies. Nicely produced considering the time and budgets. Not as good as Treasure Island though.

I watched this a while back before writing this review. I do not remember much about this movie with the exception of a few times I thought the soundtrack was good and some of the visuals were cool. I've seen the story of Robin Hood many times in many different ways and this did not impress anything unique about it.

I think that it was a good movie overall. The setting was nice, and the scenery was pretty realistic. Colour picture is nice, and the music fits the scenes. Richard Todd's acting was great, and even without the need of special effects. I really enjoyed the film.

Synopsis
