Reinhard W Thats… Cine-ENTERTAINMENT at its best Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/05/24 Full Review Andy B Sketchily written action comedy where wacky stuff just happens because it'll be funny but is never quite clever enough to hit the notes it's aiming for. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Laurie S It was too irritating to watch this loser so I gave up. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/03/23 Full Review Nawt W It could have been a great After Hours interpretation, but in Los Angeles. But alas, the movie prioritizes conventions and actors over humor or its own potential. It was sort of excruciating to observe as the movie devolved into a reassuring bravado script where the main character just needed to "assert" himself and get his lucky break, making his character less compelling than if he remained the down-on-his-luck limo driver with a string of tribulations. I don't mean you had to harm him. The comparison to After Hours is extremely valid here. However, the movie has a great cast of psychos. From actors playing themselves while being assholes to a variety of eccentric sociopaths such as Chris Pine, who reminded me more of Jared Leto in 2020 than anyone else, Ed Helms' ghost is amusing enough, and as the movie goes on, you start to wish his significantly competent character would have been the main one, instead of being a punchline to an opening of the movie. Jessica Alba is also in the movie, even if her scenes make you think she was barely on the set. Specifically, the soundtrack should be praised. Ludwig Goransson does his best impression of 80's synth. Works tremendously well. Once again, I'm drawing that After Hour comparison. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/29/22 Full Review Audience Member This movie was a complete waste of time. Seemed to be written by a childish ‘bro', with the story being predictable. Chris Pine was cast as the strangest, playboy douche bag and was in no believable as such character. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Liam D A fun and insane ride this comedy thriller is once again prove to me that Joe Carnahan is a fantastic writer and director. Scott Tobias The Dissolve The film is an obnoxious cartoon version of Hollywood noir, but Carnahan has the chops to keep it moving quickly. Rated: 2/5 Oct 22, 2014 Full Review Jordan Hoffman Guardian While the movie does eventually ramp up to a terrific purr, it hits plenty of speed bumps in its opening. Oct 9, 2014 Full Review Ignatiy Vishnevetsky AV Club One can't help but read the film-which was dropped by its studio, and is now available digitally-as an expression of everything Carnahan hates about the movie business. Rated: B- Oct 9, 2014 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...briskly-paced and entirely ingratiating... Rated: 2.5/4 Mar 5, 2022 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com It's another example of how great Wilson can be in a well written role, and it's more entertaining than a majority of the films that studios unceremoniously end up dumping into theaters anyway. Rated: 3/5 Sep 6, 2019 Full Review Dominic Griffin Deadshirt.net Stretch has a lot of things going for it that similar underachieving films don't, namely Patrick Wilson in the lead.
