Travis S **5.0 out of 5 stars - A Hilariously Underrated Gem!** "Suburban Commando" is a delightful blend of action, comedy, and sci-fi that deserves more recognition than it has received. From the moment Hulk Hogan steps out of his spaceship and into the mundane life of an average suburban family, you're in for a treat of non-stop laughs and surprisingly touching moments. Hogan, playing the intergalactic warrior turned fish-out-of-water, delivers a performance that's both charming and humorous, proving he's more than just a wrestling icon. His chemistry with the late, great Christopher Lloyd, who plays an eccentric inventor, is the heart of the movie. Their interactions are filled with comedic gold, making this film a memorable buddy comedy. The plot might be simple, but it's executed with such enthusiasm and wit that you can't help but enjoy the ride. The action scenes, while not groundbreaking, provide enough spectacle to satisfy fans of '90s action flicks, and the humor, especially the fish-out-of-water gags, still holds up remarkably well. The supporting cast, including Shelley Duvall, adds depth and warmth to the narrative, making you genuinely care about the characters' lives and the chaos Hogan's character brings to their doorstep. The movie's heart lies in its ability to blend high-energy action with heartfelt moments about friendship and family. If you're in the mood for a movie that doesn't take itself too seriously but still manages to entertain and even touch on some emotional notes, "Suburban Commando" is a must-watch. It's a nostalgic trip back to the '90s when movies like this were all about fun, laughs, and a bit of heart. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a good time with a classic action-comedy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/17/24 Full Review Michael W This sci-fi comedy was alright. Hulk Hogan, Christopher Lloyd, Shelley Duvall, William Ball, and the rest of the cast did a decent job in this movie. The plot of the movie was peculiar and kind of entertaining. It's about an alien warrior settling on earth to regain his confidence and saving a family from getting killed from his enemies. If you haven't seen this movie yet, don't waste your time. It's not worth it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Blu B As bad as everyone say it is 100%. Bad music with no sense of style or theme and just stupid with bad acting to boot and a really bad villian. Everything else is just horrific. Constant bad jokes, one liners, horrific special effects especially anything with space. I will say every once in a blue moon a joke got a little smirk but it just had too much to overcome. Once he arrives on earth, stuff just happens and the ending drags terribly with brainless action. The set design hs a very cheap feel to it also. They never explain either how he knew which house to go to from a poster with a arrow on it. Also, he's a alien so he's more of a galagtic super hero than commando so the title makes no sense. Lloyd's character is boring also a long with his two kids who may be some of the most pointless children I've ever seen. They literally don't dohardly anything so I'm not sure why they are in it at all. I don't really have much more to say beyond yeah this sucks....skip it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/20/23 Full Review Bardy B Look: the fact that you are looking at this movie means you're not looking for some cinematic masterpiece. You want 90s schlock - a stupid action movie with inconsistent and absolute nonsense for a plot that ends exactly how you'd expect it to end. And you want it to be generally and genuinely corny as a state faire food both. Congratulations - look no further. When it comes to 90s trash cinema, this ranks just below No Holds Barred. Is it perfect? God no. But you don't wany perfect. You want Suburban Commando. And here it is. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/30/23 Full Review Dan H Ah... classic Hulk Hogan all the way. This was one of my favorite films growing up. It's also one of the Hulkster's greatest movies. If you're a fan of Hogan, then you need to see this one.
