Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It comes with a prudish moralistic message (fooling around always leads to bad consequences), stilted dialogue, awful acting and a lousy story. Rated: D Oct 30, 2004 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Fassbinder's tricky film on accepted infidelity is not one of his strongest films in terms of making a message, but it still displays his singular design in a melodrama-homage that would certainly make Douglar Sirk grin. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Even minor films by this demented genius get 5 stars. Exquisite , psychological , aesthetically perfect and haunting. Fassbinder had pure dark energy that he mixed with love. Nothing like him. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Very strange film with remarkable tension and beautiful pictures. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member There's an interesting premise at the heart of this film. Unfortunately, it ends up smothering under the weight of its own ponderousness and pretentiousness. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Early Fassbinder work shows his promise as a director, especially in his playfulness with arranging actors and objects on screen. But it can only elevate this forced material (which, by the way, is not what the description associated to the movie says) so far. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A very interesting work of Fassbinders but I would have to say its one of his lesser works. The film does feature some incredible things with framing, uses windows and door frames, its pretty amazing. Fassbinder really is a master of camera motion, as the camera directs the audience through their journey as well as gives us an idea of how the characters are feeling. The best scene in this film is by far the scene where two cheating partners run into each other near the beginning; that scene is perfection. All in all is definitely solid, but I just couldn't get into the story enough to rate this highly. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
