Audience Member A documentary following Luca and Gustav, a gay couple that are fighting for rights in Italia. It's interesting to see how they face similar battles as US gays, yet live in a much more conservative and traditional society. The fight is mainly that opponents (aka the Church and it's followers) believe gay rights would be detrimental to the family and go against nature. Sound familar? Keep up the fight guys! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member A very good documentary made by two italian journalists, a gay couple for over eight years. The film is discovering homophobia among ordinary people, the catholic church and fascist parties, that still exist in Italy. A serious film, but there is always a twinkle in the eye. I watched the movie at the Gothenburg International Film Festival. After the show, the filmmakers were present for some Q & A:s. A really charming and intelligent couple, which got a lot of applauses from the audience. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautiful documentary which I thoroughly enjoyed although it was heartbreaking to see the vast differences between European countries. I found the honest and lightheartedness of the directors/protagonists hugely encouraging but also mindboggling. All in all, a great experience full of hope and love. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Funny and entertaining film, but with a difference and a very important message. I cannot help but wonder how different this film would be if it was made in Finland! Italians, Italian and Italy play such a big part in this documentary. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Stark, mutig und bewegend!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member [28th Atlantic Film Festival] Two gay men, Luca and Gustav, shoot a documentary surrounding the controversy of giving gays and lesbians the right to marry in Italy. They travel to various demonstrations, both for and against, getting the opinions of average people and key politicians on the subject. Luca and Gustav are an incredibly likable couple, and have tremendous chemistry in front of the the camera. This would have been a lot worse without their presence, and they really are a pleasure to watch. The downside is that Luca comments halfway through the film, "Why are we still doing all of this? I can tell you exactly what everyone is going to say at these meetings." And, he's right; we hear the exact same argument from the detractors, again and again, throughout the film, which quickly gets monotonous. In the end, a mixed bag.
