See more Punk W 12/12/2024 Suicide for Beginners is a fun movie which shows how hard it is to write a quality suicide note for your murder victim, that they approve. It also shows how things can snowball the longer you keep your intended murder victim around and the hazards of being a nosy neighbor. Wil Daniels is great as Garrett (why doesn’t he have top billing), the creepy nerdy guy whose anger issues leads him to want to kill the girl who spurned him. He is the glue that holds this movie together with his mildness in the beginning changing drastically as the movie progresses and his frustration grows. What’s wrong with a peanut butter party anyway? I want one! The movie shows how things comically spiral out of control from one simple murder. Hats off to the Director for playing a poppy ska song during the lawnmower scene, that had me rolling on the floor especially when the hippy popped his head over the fence to predictable results. If you like funny serial killer movies this is for you, it’s more gory than Serial Mom, maybe around the same gore as Freaky. So if you like those movies/style, watch this you won’t be disappointed.
