He-Rex Maybe it's the charm of seeing 1960's New York, or the swing/jazz style music and smooth voice of Bobby Darin, but there's something about this silly movie that hooks me every time it's on TV. Of course Rod Taylor is charming, as is Cliff Robertson, and young Jane Fonda is easy on the eyes. I guess it was considered risque for the time. Tame by today's standards, but still entertaining. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review Kalissa H This movie is great! I really enjoyed the plot and the complications that ensue. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/23 Full Review CodyZamboni This rom-com is funny and good natured. Jane Fonda is the whole movie. She's so appealing, attractive, and charming. I loved the NYC on location scenes. They really capture the early 60s vibe. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/29/23 Full Review Audience Member "Sunday in New York" was able to exist at that time in the mid-1960''s when Broadway was producing romantic urban comedies like "Barefoot in the Park" and "The Owl and the Pussycat". This one is similar to those two in theme. The transfer to film does push the envelope a bit for those days. It is mostly successful. Jane Fonda, Rod Taylor, and Cliff Robertson are wonderful together. The film starts off a bit rocky, but it kicks in and finds its stride. Not great, but watchable and mildly entertaining, Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member A cute romantic comedy with Rod Taylor and Cliff Robertson clearly having fun with their interplay. A slow start and old-fashioned dating mores shouldn't stop you from enjoying this Mad Men era happy time. And, by the way, Peter Nero's score is super. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Yes, the movie is a little dated, but the cast makes it all worthwhile, most especially a young Jane Fonda. Variety Staff Variety Norman Krasna's screenplay, from his Broadway legiter, doesn't really get rolling until it has virtually marked time for almost an hour, but once it gets up this head of steam the entire complexion of the picture seems to change. May 27, 2008 Full Review Bosley Crowther New York Times Let's just say that Peter Tewksbury's direction makes the whole thing move like clockwork on the screen, where it is done in delicious Metrocolor, and that, naturally, no one gets hurt. Rated: 3/5 May 9, 2005 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...a briskly-paced and perpetually entertaining comedy... Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 28, 2024 Full Review Jack Maher Billboard ... A genuinely amusing feature based on the perennial question, "Should she? or Shouldn't she?" Mar 28, 2023 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy A film that's utterly charming in its presentation if hopelessly dated in its sexual politics. Rated: 3/4 Jun 14, 2020 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures It's a cute little story of mistaken identity, budding relationships and potential sexual awakening. It's cute, and it's not meant to be anything more. Rated: 4/5 Oct 14, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews
