Superboys of Malegaon is a film based on the life of Nasir Shaikh, an amateur filmmaker from the town of Malegaon. The residents of the town look to Bollywood cinema for a much needed escape from daily drudgery. Nasir gets inspired to make a film for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon. He bands together his ragtag group of friends to bring his vision to life, thereby bringing a fresh lease of life into the town. The film is a poignant yet uplifting take on both filmmaking and friendship -- and what happens when those two worlds collide.

Very enjoyable! I don't mind English subtitles, and find films from other countries fascinating. This movie was a slice of India, a group of young male fans of cinema in a poor rural area who set out to make their own local movie. Had silliness but also a true and moving story. Recommend!

This is a heartfelt true story of villagers from a small Indian town who decided to make their own movies for their local theater and in turn came together to bring joy to their town and overcome adversity. Great story but somewhat slow middle which cud use better editing to make this a more concise film.

This small town story of ambition is packed with a cast of friends who come together to realize a dream with varying levels of talent or interest. The film they create together is a comedic parody with the amateur and local qualities being its charm. One big complaint is the english subtitles were scarce and whole conversations were missed by this American viewer.
