I enjoyed this more than I had thought I would, but I found myself asking: “why was a reboot necessary?” The flick could have easily been done within the same continuity as the DCEU. I found myself rolling my eyes at Gunn’s approach to this “new” DCU. The convoluted nature of the fact that: Superman is connected to Peacemaker and Creature Commandos both shows are connected to/spinoffs of The Suicide Squad (2) that movie is a continuation of Suicide Squad (1) which was a direct continuation of Batman v Superman, which was the sequel to Man of Steel. Very convoluted, and… not necessary. I have hopes for this franchise, but this movie didn’t convince me either way.

It's a perfect Superman movie - As a film its a solid 8/10 James Gunn is able to give a fresh voice to an iconic character that feels true to the Superman lore while also making it work in a cynical world where everything today feels inauthentic Can't wait for Man of Tomorrow
