Matt Brunson Film Frenzy There is one redeeming feature in that it runs under 90 minutes, but even that isn't much of a blessing since there's more padding here than in 200 mattresses. Sean S When you see Troma Entertainment in the beginning of a movie, you know that you are in for some low budget fare. With a title like "Surf Nazis Must Die" along with the movie poster, there looked to be some promise with this, but no... Ha. Lots of stock movie footage of guys surfing that goes nowhere. Terrible writing with some weak acting along with a boring plot...that plods along like some 2nd rate history lecture by a bored high school teacher waiting to retire. If you are hoping to wait this one out, until it gets better...It doesn't. There was some neat footage of the Huntington Beach coastline from the late 1980's in it, before it got over developed and over-priced. I lived there at the time 2 blocks from the beach and 13 streets north of the pier. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/24/23 Full Review Audience Member It's soo shamelessly Grindhouse, as with most Troma, but it doesn't quite thrill as much as a title like this would lead you to believe. It gets extra points though for the satisfaction of this particular revenge story. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/10/22 Full Review Audience Member I may have gone on record numerous times of my intense displeasure with most Troma productions, but this was actually produced by The institute, a production company formed by George, Craig A. Colton and Robert Tinnell, and distributed by Troma. After the earthquake that's always been prophecized that will destroy the coastline of California finally arrives, Adolf (Barry Brenner) declares himself the Führer of the new beach and has his Surf Nazis attack all of the other rival surf gangs*. But when he murders Mama Washingon's (Gail Neely) son, he's finally made the mistake that will undo his foamy Fourth Reich. The original box of Surf Nazis Must Die used to practically shouts "Rent me!" from the shelves of every video store I ever went to, yet somehow I've never seen it until now. Probably the biggest selling point to me was the appearance of Bobbie Bresee, who won my heart in Mausoleum, showing up as Smeg's mom, who is very concerned about the path her son is going down. Somewhere in here is an idea for a really fun movie, more of The Warriors on a post-apocalyptic beach, and I love that. But it doesn't really have a focus, but then again, Mama Washington is such a great character and I love every moment that she's on screen. So…secret success? *The Samurais, The Pipeliners, the Skate Rats, Biker Bar and Designer Waves, made up of Curl Blow and Dry. Thanks Edith on Letterboxd! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review william d Every bit as bad as the title suggests. Here's an idea: even if you're going for camp, try having a plot. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member To call any aspect of this film mediocre would be a gross overstatement. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review giorgio f anyone who thinks this film this film is not a masterpiece, probably does not know the cultural and sociological context of this work, a clear denunciation to a status relating to the period in here has been done Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
