Gaming U Fantastic monster film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review Nope N There's not enough alcohol on earth to convince me this is a good film. RT got this way, way wrong. Each character must be horribly stupid to move the plot forward. The best part of the film were sans dialogue. Freaking awful. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/24 Full Review Stephen A 92%!!.... you have to be joking. A laughable script and B movie acting. You have lost the plot.. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review thom g Sweetheart perfectly meets the expectations of this kind of film. The progression is well-paced, with just the right amount of thrills and events. The psychological aspects are also realistic enough to help viewers identify with the situations and, on top of that, Sweetheart delivers it all with heart. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Beach alone is 50% of the run time, this is how you rock on a budget but you need vision 2020 to enjoy it. What heart is sweet anyway?? Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review dan v This movie had a great plot, great suspense and good pacing. However, this movie also had some fatal flaws that ruined the experience. I don't understand how this film can have the rating it has. First, while the first half of the movie was good, things felt apart when the other survivors showed up and you quickly find that the dialog and acting was atrocious. I mean, who the hell argues about mundane things while they're in a survival, life and death situation? That completely ruined the movie. Second, the last fight for survival between the main character and the creature was complete BS and not realistic at all. When the main character fought the creature for the first time, it was very evident that the creature was just too fast and too strong for her (or any human). She managed to do something to get the creature away from her, but obviously it was pure luck. Then, on the final fight, she just manages to more or less fight the creature in even terms and you know where it's going from here. It was terrible and completely negated their first encounter. This movie had a very good foundation to be a good or even great movie. But that was negated by abysmal dialog and unrealistic fight. Todd Gilchrist TheWrap Not only fully delivers the conventions of genre and storytelling that audiences expect from the film's premise, but it also elevates and refines them to a sharp point. Sep 27, 2019 Full Review David Ehrlich indieWire A lean creature feature that could have used just a little extra meat on its bones. Rated: B- Sep 25, 2019 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Not quite original or stylish enough to be memorable. Feb 12, 2019 Full Review Kristy Strouse Wonderfully Weird and Horrifying In many ways, Sweetheart is a very simple but effective story; a gorgeously shot creature-feature-survival-horror that does a lot with a little, elevates the genre, while also building sustainable tension around a terrific lead. Apr 20, 2022 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The filmmakers overlook that a stranded-on-an-island concept sinks or swims on the strength of its main character, who never entirely comes to life in a compelling way here. Rated: 1.5/4 Feb 23, 2022 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine It is solid, entertaining pulp, and there is always an appreciative audience for that.
