Denny S Not a bad film overall, considering that it was produced at Monogram, one of the poverty row Hollywood studios of the 1940s. The Three Stooges pop up here and there throughout the film and are generally pretty amusing. Notable is the fact that this is a very late Curly performance, and he seems in better shape here than in most of the later Curly Columbia shorts, possibly due to a more reasonable shooting schedule. Gotta tell ya, Gale Storm was a cutie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Audience Member Thanks to the appearance of the 3 Stooges (as waiters) this gem of a musical has been restored & colorized for a new generation! Film purists will undoubtedly take issue but it helps make this a romp through 74 minutes a pure joy. Gale Storm oozes charm & talent in the acting department. The outstanding supporting cast of comedians and musicians include Louis Jordan's band performing "Caldonia" with florescent lit instruments to a simulating audio-visual effect. On it's own merits this pic measures up to any MGM counterpart. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member It doesn't really make a lot of sense nor does it really have a plot. The addition of the Three Stooges doesn't make much sense either, but it does add some fun to the film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not exactly sure what the point of this film was to be honest. I think it was to create a big extravaganza, using a lot of what was popular at the time. Swing Parade of 1946 features mostly lots of songs and, well, that's about it. It has a small plot about a girl getting a job as a singer at a nightclub, but it's mostly just the songs. Even the presence of The Three Stooges can't really help this film. It lacks any sort of entertainment value, outside of people singing. I've got to be honest though and admit that I fell asleep on it, which is unsurprising if you've ever seen it. It's a big snoozefest. Even the fine folks over at Rifftrax couldn't interject some entertainment value into it. Even if you're a Three Stooges fan I think you'll find it pretty boring. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Three Stooges and a Storm. . .just about as silly as it sounds. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Louis Jordan is amazing for those Jazz fans out there. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
