Audience Member Good start....but what a shame i had to fast forward every time that awful out of place music came on. What could have been quite interesting was ruined by the crap pop music. This happened not in fights, but when they were talking! If it was instrumental stuff it would have been fine....but modern singing? It just ruined it. Saying that there was some nice scenery....but without spoiling the film lets just say that there's a guy who takes a laughable amount of time to die. Not thinking of watching this again soon. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Apparently this was based on Kurosawa's "Rashomon". Upon hearing that it automatically lost a star because if that's the case, this is rubbish. They have changed things too much for that, but as a stand alone film it's decent. Not without it's flaws but it flows pretty well and with all the deception and betrayal, it's like watching Shakespeare...Japanese-style! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Naomitsu and Ako are betrothed but when Naomitsuâ(TM)s brother is ordered to marry Ako by royal decree, the two lovers flee the kingdom. Hiding out in the forest theyâ(TM)re attacked by the bandit Tajomaru, and then everything changes⦠Loosely based on Rashomon, this is a wonderfully complex story full of romance, betrayal and shifting identities. The acting and direction is solid enough, but itâ(TM)s the quality of the narrative that is what captures the imagination here and keeps you glued to the screen. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member KYAAAA!! SHUUUUN!!! ~~ (^____________^) Pilem pilem samurai tapi gaya sinteron alay.. untung ada yang ganteng! :D Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Some theorists say "Robin Hood" was a moniker carried on by several thieves in England, thereby creating a legend of not one person but several people over decades. Tajomaru would be a similar moniker but with the person also possessing a sword named "Namiki" that can cut through steel. A period film, the story revolves around two brothers, an adopted servant, and a princess in Feudal Japan. The two brothers are descendants of a prominent family who share the responsibility of keeping peace in Japan after the Shogun. (They're called Deputy Shogun.) Unfortunately, life in feudal Japan is not so simple and internal strife between the two brothers over the princess and an overall power struggle for control of the family made for a lukewarm storyline. Though Tajomaru was a well made movie compared to other Japanese films, the story, acting, and production quality were just average. Action scenes were also few and far between and the entire movie felt longer than it should have been. Still, the ending of the movie was done well and helped to leave this viewer with a positive impression. As for the actors, I can't say they were bad or good or even memorable. They did their jobs accordingly and perhaps the female actor was attractive(?) In all, I would recommend this film as it was somewhat entertaining and interesting. The movie was just average and as a result, will leave you with an average entertaining experience. Recommended for viewing if you like this genre and enjoy watching Japanese Samurai films. This is a movie everyone in the family can watch regardless of age.
