Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It's a film in need of a therapist for the star. Rated: C Jun 17, 2008 Full Review Walter Chaw Film Freak Central An entirely useless artifact for anyone not already familiar with Kitano's previous eleven pictures. Rated: 2/4 Jan 7, 2007 Full Review Bryant Frazer Bryant Frazer's Deep Focus Takeshi Kitano's crazy, weird, indulgent, breathtaking, strangely titled fantasy is as entertaining as it is puzzling -- a marvelous movie about movies with a sense of humor and a surreal streak. Rated: B+ Jul 14, 2006 Full Review Jon Popick Planet S Magazine I love Takeshi Kitano's films, but around the one-hour mark, I started wondering about the writer/director/editor/star's mental well being Sep 15, 2005 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Really weird and surreal, kitano is just playing around. looking for something fun to do in cinema. at the same time explaining that he is starting to get bored of doing common movies. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Weirdly enjoyable. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I watched. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting structure but production was not great. Quite dreamlike though Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member "Beat" Takeshi's latest twisted effort is nothing but a tiring, illusive, violent, intelligent, self-referential mind-fuck. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Surreal and dreamily violent, like Takeshi Kitano's gone a bit David Lynch and had it remixed by Michel Gondry. A truly mental blast from "Beat" that kindly contains a sequence with the most delightful scene of scratch DJing on a woman's breasts that you could ever wish to enjoy. Self-indulgent but genius filmmaking. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
