Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …each story is worse than the last… while a nicely mounted film, as you'd expect from Freddie Francis, these are some of the poorest, most childish stories I’ve ever seen on the screen... Rated: 1/5 May 5, 2024 Full Review Chris Alexander Alexander On Film A superior British horror film and one of the finest examples of the multi-story shocker. Apr 27, 2020 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid It's all very unsatisfying, and baffling to think that this was a big enough project to attract Ms. Novak. Ben T A blatant copy of ‘Asylum" that lacks the spark. The stories are mediocre and uninspiring. None of them really has anything to offer. ‘Dynasty' star Joan Collins stars, but adds nothing worth mentioning. If you've seen "Asylum' you will probably be disappointed. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/24 Full Review Audience Member Freddie Francis may have been a fine cinematographer, but he couldn't direct for toffee. This lamentably bad portmanteau horror features career-worst performances from several A-listers, including Joan Collins, Kim Novak, Jack Hawkins (re-voiced by Charles Gray) and Michael Jayston. On cheap sets and a budget of nothing, four deeply unexciting tales unfold with the finesse of cold rice pudding. Tigers, penny farthings, horny trees, cannibalism, none of it makes sense, and the framing device even less so. Abby small, as Marty Feldman might say. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I don’t care what anyone says, these old school horror movies are so bad they’re good!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/23/20 Full Review Audience Member Good fun and easy to follow. I love anthology films and think it is a shame that not more were made. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A series of short stories that are connected only by their dependence on our imagination - not anyone's sanity. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member 69% Here there be tigers. "Each story is simply true."-Professor R.C.
