Proto-“Frozen”. “Rapunzel” is a central story in “Grimms’ Fairy Tales” and was one of the most famous princesses without a Disney adaptation—until the studio’s animation ventured into the third dimension. By making Rapunzel the first CGI Disney princess, “Tangled” became the blueprint for transferring Disney’s fairy tale magic to computer animation. It plays a pivotal role for Disney’s Revival Era, modernizing the princess dynamic and returning to the studio’s musical roots. The PG rating allows “Tangled” to delve into darker subject matter compared to other modern Disney films, which is essential for the story and aligns with the tone of some Disney Renaissance masterpieces.

A fresh and fun take on the classic fairy tale. Mandy Moore brings so much heart to Rapunzel—not just through her voice acting, but also her beautiful singing. Her performance adds real emotional depth, especially in moments like “I See the Light.” Flynn Rider is a great balance of charm and wit, and the animation still looks stunning. With lovable side characters like Pascal and Maximus, memorable music, and a sweet storyline, it’s funny, heartwarming, and easy to revisit. Definitely recommend it for a cozy movie night.
