Nell Minow Common Sense Media Kids will be drawn to Disney's fast-paced version. Rated: 4/5 Dec 28, 2010 Full Review Lisa Alspector Chicago Reader The stylized physiques and movements of the characters in this exciting animated musical-romance-adventure are at once realist and fantastic. Nov 13, 2009 Full Review Geoff Andrew Time Out No classic, but very enjoyable. Jun 24, 2006 Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn For coming at a time when so many Disney films ended up feeling lackluster, Tarzan is somewhat of a hidden gem. While there are faults, the drama and emotion of the film do hit rather effectively with both memorable visuals and weight. Darío C Phil Collins performs a beautiful soundtrack here. Gorgeous animation and moving story. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review TROY S Disney's Tarzan is a gorgeous looking movie, and if it strays quite a bit from the source material it wins back points for giving us some of the best jungle movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Tommy D The story, the movements and personality of the characters is fantastic Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/04/24 Full Review Nick R From the Phil Collins soundtrack to the great animated action sequences, 'Tarzan' is a standout Disney movie that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is something new and exciting for Disney that works in many new ways. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Faiz D One of my most favorite animated films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/29/24 Full Review Blu B An animated classic. The animation is stunning with the CGI and hand drawn hybrid creating extremely memorable sequences. The jungle is very memorable and the camerawork is really creative. Everything else is really good about it. The main problems that hold this back are very nuanced more than anything. It follows a very predictable narrative you've seen before. The music is really good but the Phil Collins numbers while great don't really feel like they fit the asetics like how some of the other tracks do. Tarzan himself isn't that interesting a character but there all likeable. Jane is arguably the most likeable character of all. The villian is good but a bit on the generic side. You could argue the first 25 minutes or so where we show Tarzan growing up and coming of age while really good isn't important to the overall plot and could've probably been told in a 1 minute flashback sequence. But besides that it's really well done for such a simple story. Anyone who is a fan of animated flicks, the directors, any actors in this, or the source material will like this a lot.
