Audience Member Best of the Lex Barker series and arguably the best overall film since the Weismuller Era. Harts Jane bests Brenda Joyce for depth and is the best singular Jane performance since OSullivans swan song in the NEW YORK ADVENTURE, Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Dull Tarzan outing is filled with a higher than average amount of racist stereotypes of African native people. In this one they are depicted as big eyed simpletons amazed by magic and believers in human sacrifice. The story has Tarzan acting as a guide for a couple of British diamond hunters, but as usual the great white hunters have ulterior motives and Tarzan has to save the day. Also, after watching a few of these Lex Barker Tarzan pictures, I've noticed a pattern that they all seem to end with Cheetah doing something funny and everyone laughing. Ho hum... don't bother with this Tarzan film. FUN FACT! This film was directed by Cy Endfield, who'd go on to direct the classic "Zulu." Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Tarzan's Savage Fury (1952) -- [5.5] -- Tarzan is tricked into guiding smugglers to a village of dangerous natives who guard a secret stash of diamonds in "Tarzan's Savage Fury." Lex Barker's penultimate swing in the loincloth is the first to dabble with the Greystoke lineage and the second to feature Boy (Tommy Carlton), though this incarnation of Boy is not a blood relative to Tarzan or Jane (Dorothy Hart). I like the early scenes where Tarzan and Boy talk about being orphans and start to bond, and there's a nice moment later on where Tarzan looks into the jungle and seems to feel remorse about his past. It's not much mind you, but I love when these kiddie serials show any depth at all. Real elephants were employed during the filming, but a showdown with two rhinos is depicted with some of the worst rear-projected stock photography ever. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member This one introduces a new "Boy" in an unusual way. Natives are using him as literal alligator bait. I'm not a fan of Tarzan with a kid sidekick since Cheetah fills that bill just fine. That said, everyone is pretty solid in this so it gets the typical 3 star average review for a Tarzan film.
