Joshua Vasquez Slant Magazine Taste the Blood of Dracula is unusual in that it keeps Dracula somewhat on the sidelines. Rated: 3/4 Apr 28, 2004 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A routine Dracula film, though well made. Rated: C+ Oct 30, 2022 Full Review David Hogan hoganreviews.co.uk Well, it was hard to actually like any characters, it wasn't very interesting and the ending was pants. Oh well, what is this, film number 5? Not a bad run so far then... Rated: 2/5 Oct 27, 2021 Full Review Steve Biodrowski ESplatter Thematically intriguing %u2014 a sort of broadside attack on Victorian hypocrisy. Nov 25, 2008 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy The strangest and most confused of the Dracula films up to that point, and the first of Hammer's vampire films where the bad elements seriously threaten to outnumber the good. Rated: 5/10 Oct 19, 2008 Full Review Lucius Gore ESplatter Given the lack of Lee screen time, 'Taste' is actually a pretty damn good Hammer film, with a strong story, the usual stock of excellent actors, great costumes, etc. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 18, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

DanTheMan 2 Taste the Blood of Dracula is an odd one for me, it's very clear that this is Peter Sasdy's first feature film; his direction is often comprised of uninspired mid-shots, seemingly a carryover from his days directing for BBC and ITC dramas but the story and other Hammer conventions are on the strong side here. Despite the original intention of not having Dracula appear and a new vampire take his place, the film makes up for the clear shoehorning in of the titular Count with plenty of great performances from actors cast against type, Geoffrey Keen and Peter Sallis especially while Lee continues playing Dracula with righteous indignation even if his screentime is minimal. Much campier than previous Hammer ventures but retaining that gothic tone and atmosphere thanks largely to its sets and costumes, Taste the Blood of Dracula is another very watchable entry in Hammer's continuing success even if the bad elements seriously threaten to outnumber the good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/14/23 Full Review CodyZamboni Movie is a direct sequel to the last one. Overall, it's more serious, darker, gorier and with relaxed censorship of the 1970's, contains nudity. Christopher Lee still delivers, but annoying supporting characters and abrupt, lame plot resolutions lessen the movie's impact. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/05/23 Full Review Joe C Alice's father was abusive. And I can't stand him. Geoffrey Keen. I enjoyed seeing him get hit in the face. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review dave s When Count Dracula concludes that a group of three aging hedonists in the process of selling their souls in exchange for unlimited jollies are responsible for the death of one of his minions, he vows revenge as only an ageless vampire can. While it's admirable that Hammer tried to mix up the tired vampire formula, Taste the Blood of Dracula feels as though the Dracula name was simply inserted into another genre for the sake of convenience and box office profits. Really, it could have just as easily been Taste the Blood of Dr. Frankenstein…or The Mummy…or Andy Hardy. Christopher Lee is back as Dracula, but only appears in a handful of scenes, usually uttering nothing more than a word or two and gazing menacingly off into the distance. It does have a nice atmosphere, as you'd expect from a Hammer film, but tends to wear thin fairly quickly. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Liam D Dracula was put off to the side for most of the movie but Hammer's colourful blood and Christopher Lee (Airport '77, Return from Witch Mountain) commanding performance make it a fun watch in the Hammer filmography Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/21/22 Full Review Audience Member Well done Dracula tale works pretty well as a direct sequel to to the original. Three distinguished gentlemen are bored and looking for some excitement, which then leads them to coming into contact with one of Count Dracula's servants. As with most Hammer Film Productions it's a well mounted bit of horror and you also get Christopher Lee returning as the count. The story is better than most of the Dracula films and that helps it greatly, as does the presences of the always great Lee. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
