Jacob B 14h To be honest, most of my interest in seeing the 4th mainline SpongeBob film was just for the short set in the continuity of the brilliant Mutant Mayhem. And luckily, this TMNT short lived up to my expectations and was the best part of my cinema experience. It has the expected TMNT action and solid animation but the highlight is the vicious takedown on AI, resulting in some hilarious satirical potshots. I'd even say it was funnier than the feature film it was attached to. Ironic how Search for SquarePants' best joke was a Handsome Squidward reference from this short, rather than anything from the final film. While I don't pull off the "Just Here for Godzilla" trope anymore, I made a willing exception for this short film and I'm glad I did. A short which proves that the IP is in good hands with Point Grey. Maybe attach your short with something more thematically-appropriate next time, however, in consideration of those who wouldn’t be caught dead watching big-screen SpongeBob otherwise. While only a few minutes long this cartoon manages to pack in the humor, action and joy that makes a good turtle adventure. If you liked the animation style of the mutant mayhem film you will enjoy this as well, in fact some of the lighting and coloring choices in the short improve on the film. The bantering between turtles is funny, using the the voice cast to great effect. The villains telling of their back story is hilarious. I recommend this short to any TMNT fan. I enjoyed seeing it and am excited for what they continue to do for this universe. I still like the animation style here, and I enjoyed the critique of AI in this.
