What to Know

Critics Consensus

It's a case of one sequel too many for the heroes in a half shell, with a tired time-travel plot gimmick failing to save the franchise from rapidly diminishing returns.

This installation fails to capitalize on the charm of these characters, the plot is unintelligible and there are no jokes. Go to Full Review

Less amateurish than the 1990 original, less embarrassing than the 1991 sequel (with its mind-boggling Vanilla Ice ninja-rap number), this may be the easiest installment in the series for parents to sit through. Go to Full Review

Ben B. @Boldbravebigbenbrown Feb 25 While a far cry from TMMT 1 (and lesser so TMNT 2) I find this three-quel to be a fun, nostalgic romp in the Ninja Turtle canon. Sure...the lines are cheesy, the plot is a little flimsy, but overall it's fun, funny and a great one to watch with the fam. I like that they explored an entirely new plot direction that takes them away from the city but keeps the swashbuckling turtle charm. It's quintessentially 90s and a fun, albeit, looser conclusion to this era of Turtle movies. Watch it with your kids, you'll laugh AND wince! See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 18 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III is often dismissed as the weakest entry in the original trilogy, yet it still holds a certain nostalgic charm. While the screenplay clearly stumbles, especially with its time travel storyline to feudal Japan, the film never completely loses its identity. The concept itself is creative, but the execution feels rushed and underdeveloped, leaving several ideas unexplored. Where the film succeeds is in its commitment to practical effects. The Turtle suits, though slightly downgraded from earlier films, still provide a tangible authenticity that modern CGI versions struggle to replicate. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael still feel like real characters rather than digital creations, which gives the movie warmth and personality. The pacing issues, weaker villains, and uneven tone are more noticeable with age, but the humor remains effective. It stands as a flawed but memorable piece of franchise history. It still matters. Even now it does. Yes. See more Alexander S Oct 20 While Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III may not be a very satisfying plot, it still holds a special place in the hearts of fans. I personally enjoy the first two films and turtles are still amusing but the plot is lacking. Grading: C- See more Josh H @LazyZombie25 Sep 18 Has a good story and some quality material, though it suffers quietly from being a Kids movie. It's less glaring than it was in the first, but it really wants to be something aimed at a more mature audience. See more Bradly Aug 24 It was a fresh take on classic tmnt movie. I really enjoyed the movie and the cast. I really think the movie is very underrated. I never turst the opinion of others. I don't let them tell me what I like and don't like. Be your own person and judge for yourself. I loved the movie from Star to Finish. But that's one turtle fan to another. See more Read all reviews
