Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com It feels like a drug-induced trip of psychedelic imagery while also being relentlessly meaningful... It's a film so ambitious and unconventional that nearly any interpretation can be considered correct. Rated: A+ Dec 7, 2016 Full Review Jas Keimig The Stranger (Seattle, WA) Angel's Egg benefits from multiple viewings, and it's emotionally obscure enough that you can glean whatever interpretation you see fit. Dec 9, 2021 Full Review Tim Brayton Alternate Ending Moments are connected by emotional logic that doesn't have anything to do with narrative comprehensibility and doesn't pretend to. Audience Member This film might fly over the heads of someone who isn't paying attention, but for people who like a little meat on their bone, this film is simply nothing short of a masterpiece. An absolute treat to watch over and over. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member It's slow paced to a deficit, (yet matches the atmosphere and tonality, and little is said throughout. These features aren't a deal breaker for Angel's Egg like it would be in just about every other film however. Utterly beautiful animation that feels more like a moving painting than a movie. The use of it's stunning art to tell the story is unique and masterful, unfortunately it can wane on you at moments. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review david l The stunning Art Nouveau as well as Gothic architecture, two mysterious central figures, fascinating coelacanth fish and intriguing titular egg with the bird embryo inside it – all of these represent fascinating, artistic imagery at display in ever-engrossing Angel's Egg, a film that is slow and requires patience, but it rewards you with amazing world-building, great sound and undeniably artistic animation. It's a film that is open to interpretation - it can best be seen as a critique of blindly following your faith - and accompanied by strikingly dark atmosphere. Consequently, this Mamoru Oshii masterpiece is undoubtedly a work of anime art. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member What an amazing piece of nightmarish conceptual anime movie. Still trying to make sense of what I saw but I loved it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Angel's Egg is really hard to talk about due to how well it almost exclusively uses visuals to tell its story. That said, the story it tells and the themes it has really hit it home with me overall and I can't give a full review without going into excruciating detail. That said, the visuals were done by the guy who does the final fantasy character concept art and it shows in his attention to detail and personal visual flair that he brings to this film. I'd definitely give this film a good watch. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Pure surrealism. Maybe one of the best movie ever. It ´s beautiful. Made you think. Is combine the aesthetics with the technology. The religion. The human beens. The life. The dead. The hope. The sadness. Pure symbols. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
