Victor O When it comes to B-movies, I don't discriminate if it has a good cast. With only James Brolin, I felt let down, but once I realized this was produced by Roger Corman, the king of B-movies, there was no discrimination at all, this was mine to watch. The Near Future. Humanity is on the edge of extinction as 23 years have elapsed from when a terrible war was waged between men and women. An STD that kills hours after procreation has turned the world into a barren wasteland of tribes each fighting for resources as it is the battle of the sexes. Both sides are savage with men violently misogynistic, with any compassion seen as weakness, and discipline is enforced at the point of death. One man who fails before his savage kin is McCabe, but he is then rescued by Joe, a 20-year-old man who exists because his father has successfully found a vaccine that destroys the virus and can repopulate the human race. All they need is to test it and stop the violent men from destroying it. I saw a sci-fi movie earlier this year, not a few years old with a great budget and some decent actors with a similar anti-misogynist message but it was a terrible movie. This is a treasure, one that unites man and woman after such awful inhumanity. It reminds me of my favorite Thoreau quote – Every child begins the world again. Yeah, it's a B-movie, but it goes to show that told right, they are better than any Hollywood movie with a 100-million-dollar budget.
