Terror of Mechagodzilla is pretty wonderful, and is only slightly lesser than its immediate predecessor. Go to Full Review

While Terror of Mechagodzilla is not exactly a good film, it at least veers into slightly darker territory than some of the later Showa efforts. Go to Full Review

With its incredible tatty special effects and outer-space dialogue, it runs like a lesser serial from the Forties. Go to Full Review

The D. @randomshjt2727 3d One of the best Godzilla movies ever made an oh great and the original series See more Ilyas Z @Zellai Dec 1 This Movie Should Have Been Called: The Terror Of The TITANOSAURUS. The Sequel Of The 1974 Blockbuster Film Is Unexpected And Not Nessecary. I Mean, Godzilla Already Killed Mechagodzilla. See more Kenny A. @nerdsman567 Nov 6 This movie should’ve been called “Titanosaurus (Guest Starring Godzilla and Mechagodzilla).” Seriously, 90% of this movie revolves around Titanosaurus! Godzilla and Mechagodzilla BARELY factor into the plot and don’t even do anything until the last 20 minutes of the movie! It’s no wonder why this movie flopped at the box office, hence, abruptly ending the Showa Series of Godzilla movies! This movie is a mess! The original “Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)” was very cheesy and had its own flaws, but at least that movie had slightly better pacing (Keyword being “slightly”) and had WAY more memorable moments (Especially its action scenes) that made it stand out from the other Showa Godzilla movies, unlike this one, which just haphazardly recycles overused ideas from the previous movies. See more Khaliel P Aug 19 Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla 2 (1975) concludes the Showa era with a direct continuation of the previous film, introducing Titanosaurus as a new kaiju while Godzilla faces a rebuilt and upgraded MechaGodzilla. Human characters are underdeveloped and confusing, but the focus remains on the monsters, delivering spectacular battles, impressive effects, and a more serious tone than earlier films. Despite minor narrative flaws, the movie provides a satisfying finale to this era of Godzilla, cementing the franchise’s legacy before its nine-year hiatus. See more Justin T 06/13/2024 I really enjoyed the end of this era of Godzilla movies. It has everything you want, a new monster, lots of city smashing, crazy/silly looking aliens, giant monsters fighting etc. The music isn’t too crazy but you really can’t take the film seriously if you want to enjoy it. This is my favourite Godzilla movie along with Destroy All Monsters (1968) which I prefer a tiny bit more. As this is the last of the Shōwa era I’ll add my conclusions of the era - much as they have evolved over 21 years, the format actually feels like a slow evolution and there are so many familiar elements across them all. It is basically people in rubber suits smashing models and fighting awkwardly. They kaiju are shot mostly the same as the real people but with some slow motion to convey scale, occasionally they shoot from a low angle or use various special effects to impose real people. Sometimes the army is involved, sometimes mentioned, often shots are reused across the films. The real people stories are usually science-fiction based and often pretty goofy. Ultimately it is an era of lots of average but entertaining films with a handful of gems and occasional disasters. See more josh d 06/09/2024 Interesting but flawed See more Read all reviews
