There's still a lot to like here, particularly for comedy nerds: great footage (new and old), insightful interviews, and a genuine love for what Close strived for. Go to Full Review

What makes the film an ultimately warm rendering of a life well lived are the acknowledged geniuses who credit Close for the inclusive, massive, and still-booming comedy community. Go to Full Review

While I don't know if this is going to win over the casual audience member, I commend Bieber and the participants for taking part in something that so noticeably comes from the heart. Go to Full Review

The film is endlessly scattered, hopping along from subject to subject as it feels the audience becoming bored and pulling away. Go to Full Review

Neither entirely a performance film nor a bio-doc about Close, it's a nice introduction to the man and his legacy. Go to Full Review

03/13/2022 A must watch. It's time we learn about the very material we are made of, eat out of and go back to when we die. You will get to know how climate change and quality of the soil are related and so much more. It's time to #SaveSoil 🌍❤️ See more 02/16/2017 What an amazing thing to get to see the tale behind on of comedy's greatest legends. Can't see how any comedian or person in the arts wouldn't enjoy and appreciate this. The genuine love for this pillar of comedy is so evident in the film with interviews from many comedians who considered him his mentor. An important piece of comedy history beautifully expressed in this documentary, don't miss out. See more 02/13/2017 I really enjoyed watching this film! It's not the most factual history of Del Close's effect on improv or comedy in general, but it is really quite heartwarming. It features a lot of retro found footage of some of my favorite comedians like Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Louis C.K., and most of the original UCB cast, all talking about their experiences with Close earlier in their careers. Really casual and easy watch, interesting for any fans of comedy. The film is what it's title says, it's a thank you note to Del Close from those who have learned everything from him. See more 02/10/2017 This is an awesome documentary - an incredible inside look into the world of comedy and improv. Del's persona and influence are alternately fascinating and tragic, but his integrity and authenticity cannot be denied. A must watch for all lovers of comedy! See more 02/09/2017 As a long time fan of UCB, since the days of their Comedy Central Show, this movie was vastly important to understanding one of the true godfathers of the artform of improvisational performance. I also recommend UCB's Improv Comedy Manual that i got off of Amazon. It breaks it down from the simple basics to the more in depth long form styles. A longtime comedy fan and avid reader of comedy biographies, Del Close was a name i ran across countless times. So thanks to UCB and Seeso for the chance to put a face to the name of a purely ingenious mind, an innovator, a true original, Del Close. See more 12/08/2016 Inside look at UCB Theater and an annual improv festival in honor of Del Close. This is a great primer on improv comedy, it's history and creation and how the philosophy survives today around the world. See more Read all reviews
